Veterinary rules:
Please note the following veterinary rules when entering Finland and when entering the competition. Please also note, that you should ensure that your box for your dog when leaving Finland by air, is big enough.
The FCI World Dog Show observes the vaccination regulations approved by the board of the Finnish Kennel Club. In addition to Finnish Kennel Club vaccination regulations, dogs arriving from overseas must comply with the Finnish Food Safety Authority EVIRA's requirements in force at the time of the event. Please note that the Finnish Kennel Club's vaccination regulations may differ from the vaccination requirements associated with the ones for importing dogs to Finland. The requirements in force at the moment can be checked through the EVIRA website www.evira.fi.
It is the responsibility of the event organisers to verify that vaccination regulations are complied with. The vaccination certificate must note the dog's identification information in an unambiguous way and state the last date of validity of the vaccine given to the dog as specified in the vaccine's summary of product characteristics. In order for the dog to be allowed to participate in the event, it must have the following valid vaccinations:
Canine distemper vaccination
Puppies are administered the canine distemper vaccination twice. At least 14 days must have passed since the administering of the booster vaccine at the date of the event (two-week withholding period). The first booster vaccine is valid for one year. The following booster shots, which are administered at the age of one year or older, are valid for a period determined in the summary of product characteristics for the vaccine in question. If the vaccination certificate has been issued prior to 1.7.2010 and the last day of validity of a booster vaccine has not been noted on the certificate, the vaccine will be considered to be valid for 3 years.
Rabies vaccination
At least 14 days must have passed since the administering of the dog's first rabies vaccination at the date of the event (two-week withholding period).
Dogs participating in earthdog trials and exercises, earthdog aptitude trials (LUT), earthdog hunting trials (LUME) or underground den inspections (LUO) must possess a valid rabies vaccination that is less than one year old.
On the part of other events, rabies vaccinations are valid as follows: a vaccination administered to a dog less than one year old is valid for a year. A vaccination administered to a dog, which is at least one year old, is valid for a period determined in the summary of product characteristics for the vaccine in question. If the vaccination certificate has been issued prior to 1.7.2010 and the last day of validity of a booster vaccine has not been noted on the certificate, the vaccine will be considered to be valid for 2 years.
Withholding period in the case of expired canine distemper and rabies vaccinations:
If a dog's vaccination has expired, the vaccination must in all cases be renewed at least 14 days before the date of the event (two-week withholding period).
Other regulations associated with infectious diseases
If a dog contracts canine distemper, infectious hepatitis, kennel cough or some other similar infectious inflammation of the respiratory system, parvo virus diarrhoea or another similar infectious inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, the dog may not be present at the event unless it has been symptom-free for at least two weeks. This same restriction also applies to symptom-free dogs belonging to the same household. Cases of external and internal parasites must be treated in the appropriate manner before the dog is allowed to be present at the event.
Further information on vaccination regulations available at www.kennelliitto.fi.
Antidoping rules
The event will observe the antidoping regulations approved by the Finnish Kennel Club council.
